Project Type: Posters
Tools: Adobe photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign
Using the prompts "Mars," "The Red Planet," and "SpaceX," I was challenged to design a series of three posters. Each poster explores the core principles of typography, hierarchy, color, and imagery, coming together as a cohesive set that tells a visual story about space exploration and the future of Mars.
Design Challenges: My main challenge was establishing a clear connection between the posters through color while ensuring each composition felt unique. I wanted to avoid a repetitive layout and instead find a way for each piece to stand on its own while still functioning as part of a larger, unified series.
Solution: I decided to vary the focal points for each poster to create a sense of progression. In the first poster, I used imagery as the primary focal point. The second poster balances both typography and imagery to guide the viewer’s eye. For the final poster, I shifted the focus entirely to typography, allowing the letterforms to carry the weight of the design.
Result: The final result is a dynamic three part poster series that demonstrates versatility in layout and hierarchy. By linking the set through a consistent color palette and SpaceX-inspired aesthetic, I created a cohesive visual narrative that effectively showcases three distinct approaches to design, image-heavy, balanced, and type-driven.
