Project Type: Brand Identity Design
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
For the Southern Connecticut State University 2026 Graphic Design Senior Exhibition, the graduating class organized a curated showcase to display the work they produced over their four years in the program. This exhibition celebrates the creativity, growth, and unique perspectives of these emerging designers.
Design Challenges: The primary challenge was developing a visual identity that could represent thirteen different individuals while also speaking to the group as a collective. I needed a concept that felt cohesive and professional without overshadowing the variety of personal design styles within the class.
Solution: While researching ideas for the logo, I found inspiration in an everyday tool for designers: the desktop folder. Because we are constantly organizing our work into folders to save and manage our files, it became the perfect symbol for our journey. I decided to use this digital element as the foundation of the identity to ground the exhibition in the reality of the design process.
Result: The final logo for the exhibition features a folder labeled "13 New Items". This serves as a metaphor for the transition the class is making; while this project marks the end of their undergraduate college years, the "13 New Items" signifies that their professional careers have just begun.
