Project Type: Brand Identity Design
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
Forno is a fast-casual dining experience on a mission to bring authentic Italian pizza to the streets of New York. The goal of this brand design was to bridge two iconic worlds: capturing the energy and grit of New York City while staying true to the roots and tradition of Italian cuisine.
Design Challenges: My objective was to create a minimalist brand identity using a limited palette of only three colors. The challenge was maintaining a clean, modern look while still conveying an urban, "street" feeling. I needed to find a way to design an appealing logo that felt simple yet stylish enough to stand out in a crowded market.
Solution: I chose a classic typeface to establish a sense of formality and tradition. To give it a modern edge, I incorporated a small flame icon around the word "Forno." Since "Forno" is the Italian word for oven, and the restaurant uses traditional wood-fired ovens, the flame was the perfect symbol to connect the name to the craft.
Result: The final result is a focused visual identity consisting of a primary logo and a custom brand pattern. The minimal color palette ensures the branding remains bold and recognizable, while the pattern adds a layer of urban texture that can be applied to packaging and environmental graphics. This cohesive system successfully balances Italian heritage with a modern, New York City edge.
